Arendal er vertsby for Norges største FN-virksomhet, - UNEP/GRID-Arendal som er tilknyttet FNs miljøprogram.

FN- by-initiativet er et samarbeid mellom UNEP/GRID-Arendal, Arendal kommune og Aust-Agder fylkekommune. Målet er å bistå og styrke FN ved å støtte regionale prosjekter med internasjonalt omfang. FN-byen Arendal har bærekraftig utvikling i fokus.

Siden oppstarten i 2006 har FN-by-initiativet blitt en paraply for aktiviteter som favner regionalt næringsliv, skoler og frivillige organisasjoner. I dag er vi er i gang med flere prosjekter som støtter arbeidsprogrammet til FNs miljøprogram. FN-Byen Arendal på YouTube

What is the UN-city Arendal?

Arendal is the host for the largest UN-activity in Norway, - UNEP/GRID-Arendal which is connected to UN Environmental Programme.

The UN-city initiative is a collaboration between UNEP/GRID-Arendal, Arendal municipality and kommune og Aust-Agder county. The aim is to support and strengthen UN by supporting regional projects of international scale. The UN-city Arendal is focused on sustainable development.

Since the start in 2006 the UN-city initiative has become an umbrella for activities including regional business, schools and NGO’s. We are now involved in different projects in support of UNEPs work.
